Deep in the Darkness: Blu-Ray Review

Arriving this week on Blu-ray is Chiller Network’s “Deep in the Darkness”, courtesy of Scream Factory. Despite a solid cast that includes Sean Patrick Thomas, Dean Stockwell, and Blanche Baker, this film doesn’t have a whole lot going for it. Running at 100 minutes is way too long for something that seems to drag-on forever.

Based on the novel by Michael Laimo, the film centers on Dr. Michael Cayle (Thomas) and his family. Having moved from the city to the small town of Ashborough, Michael and his wife Cristine (Kristen Bush) thought this was the best thing for them and their daughter. The town needed a new doctor and Michael was happy to set up his practice there. Just like most quiet towns in horror films, things aren’t quite what they seem and Michael quickly discovers that Ashborough has one nasty secret.

The set-up for “Deep in the Darkness” is actually quite promising but the execution and direction by Colin Theys (“Dead Souls”, “Remains”) is where the problem seems to be. The only positive thing I can really say is
