Awaken: DVD Review
Arriving this week on DVD is the action-thriller “Awaken”, starring Natalie Burn, Jason London, Daryl Hanna, Vinnie Jones, Edward Furlong, Robert Davi, and Michael Paré, and David Keith. As you can see, “Awaken” sports a pretty impressive roster of b-movie stars and although some fare better than others, the cast helps make “Awaken” entertaining, yet instantly forgettable.
Billie Kope (Burn) has been searching for her missing sister. Her search led to her own kidnapping, in which she has been dumped on a tropical island. Billie, however is not alone on the island. Not only are there others that have been taken against their will. The man who runs the island (Jason London) is using the people that he had taken for organ harvesting.
Most of “Awaken” has Billie going around kicking ass while she is helped by a few of the others on the island. There isn’t much more to the film than that. If you are a fan of generic DTV action films, this is one of the better recent titles, just don’t go into it expecting much.
