The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 (Collector’s Edition): Blu-Ray Review
Arriving on Blu-ray this week is the Collector’s Edition of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2”, courtesy of Scream Factory. I couldn’t be more pleased with this overstuffed release. I have always been a fan of the sequel’s black-comedy nature, although I know there are many who disagree. Tobe Hooper wisely went in a different direction, rather than simply trying to recreate the original film all over again.
The story takes place more than a decade after the original. Texas Ranger Lefty Enright (Dennis Hopper) has been seeking out vengeance on the chainsaw wielding maniacs that killed his daughter. When radio DJ, Stretch (Caroline Williams) happens to record the most recent murder on her radio show, Lefty has her play it again, to draw out the killers. Of course, the plan works and now the cannibalistic Sawyer family are after Stretch.
For those who have never seen “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2”, it is downright silly. However, it also a great deal of fun. Bill Moseley as Chop-Top is easily my favorite character here. Everything is so over-the-top, but in the best possible way. Scream Factory has shown a great deal of love for the film with this release. Not only is MGM’s Original HD Master included, but also a new 2K HD scan as well. This two-disk set has tons of new extras, along with previously released ones. This is truly the ultimate edition and a MUST BUY for any fan.
