Pulse (Special Edition): Blu-Ray
Pulse (Special Edition): Blu-Ray
Arriving on Special Edition Blu-ray this week is “Pulse”. Do not get it confused with the truly awful 2006 American remake. Arrow Video is bringing you the original 2001 Japanese horror film directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Much like other J-Horror films of its’ time (“Ringu”, “Ju-On”, “Dark Water”), “Pulse” is grim and terrifying. It also features great cinematography by Junichiro Hayashi. “Pulse” was ahead of its’ time as is focuses on social media which was just getting started upon the time of its’ release.
If you are a fan of “Pulse” or have never seen it but have love for the horror genre in general, this is a release worthy of picking up. There are tons of bonus features, including a collector s booklet featuring new writing on the film by critic Chuck Stephens.
