A Dark Song: Blu-Ray Review

Arriving on Blu-ray this week is writer/director Liam Gavin’s feature film debut, “A Dark Song”. Right off the bat, if you go into this film looking for a straight up horror film you might find yourself very disappointed.  Although elements of terror are on display, “A Dark Song” is more of a character drama that features fantastic performances from Catherine Walker and Steve Oram. The film is about grief, loss, coping with tragedy and the two leads pull off their roles perfectly.

“A Dark Song” is one of the most original horror films I have seen in quite some time but at times it does feel like a very slow journey. Despite the obvious talent behind and in front of the camera, I just didn’t love the film. Regardless, I would still recommend genre fans to check it out if they want to see something they haven’t seen before.
