Animal: Blu-Ray Review

animal

Arriving on Blu-ray this week is the 2014 creature feature “Animal”, courtesy of Scream Factory. For those of you who dig movies about a group of people trapped in a cabin while avoiding getting eaten, I am pretty sure “Animal” has enough carnage within its’ 86 minute runtime to appease you.

Produced by Drew Barrymore and directed by Brett Simmons, “Animal” follows five friends out for a hike in the woods. It doesn’t take too long before they wind up getting chased by a large flesh eating monster and find refuge in a cabin that is already occupied by the previous group of people that were chased by the same monster.

The tone of “Animal” is somewhat similar to that of “Feast” but with much less creativity. However, I still managed to enjoy myself despite its’ flaws. The biggest issue is that at times it feels repetitive. Plus it is always nice to see Joey Lauren Adams turn up on screen. “Animal” may be far from perfect but it is fun enough to recommend checking out.
