Bad Moon: Blu-Ray Review
Arriving on Blu-ray this week is the 1996 werewolf flick, “Bad Moon” which stars Michael Paré and Mariel Hemmingway. Based on the novel, “Thor” by Wayne Smith, the Eric Red directed film makes quite a few alterations from the source material. One of the big differences is that in the book, the events are seen from the dog’s perspective. That explains why the title of the book is the dog’s name.
This release from Scream Factory includes a new director’s cut supervised by Eric Red. The big difference between the original theatrical version and director’s cut is the added gore which was edited to receive an “R” rating, which the MPAA originally gave an “NC-17”. Not much else is different. If you are a fan of “Bad Moon” that you might want to pick up this release. The transfer looks great and includes some great new bonus features, including the “Nature of the Beast”, making of “Bad Moon interviews. However, if you were not a fan of “Bad Moon” upon its’ initial release, nothing here will change your mind. I am such a werewolf movie hound that even one as mediocre as “Bad Moon” is worth having in my library.
