Basket Case 2 + Basket Case 3: The Progeny – Blu-Ray Reviews
Arriving on Blu-ray this week are director Frank Henenlotter’s two sequels to his cult favorite, “Basket Case”. “Basket Case 2” (1990) and “Basket Case 3: The Progeny” (1991) continue the story of Duane Bradley and his surgically-separated twin brother Belial. The “Basket Case” trilogy is definitely one of the strangest to come out of the late 80’s, early 90’s and a must-own for anyone who grew up with the V/H/S horror classics.
Both “Basket Case” sequels look great, as they were taken from the original 35mm camera negative. Watching Belial have mutant-puppet sex in HD was definitely the highlight of my week. Sad, I know. “Basket Case 2” includes “The Man in the Moon Mask” featurette as well as a behind-the-scenes featurette. Part 3 only includes a theatrical trailer. Despite the lack of bonus feature, these transfers are a good enough reason alone to pick them up.
