Bite: Blu-Ray Review

bite

Arriving on Blu-ray this week is writer/director Chad Archibald’s body-horror flick, “Bite”.  Those who like a nice healthy portion of gore in their horror will definitely want to check out this one. I am not talking about decapitations or any other type of severed body parts.  I am talking about an apartment covered wall-to-wall with the nastiest, slimiest, fish-egg-like things you can imagine. Oh and the sound of them will make you gag.  Yep, it’s that awesome.

Casey (Elma Begovic) was having a lovely bachelorette tropical getaway with her friends. Aside from an annoying insect bite, the trip was a total blast.  When she comes back home, things aren’t so fun.  Casey is having second thoughts about getting married and actually wants to call it off.  However, that isn’t the worst of it.  It turns out the insect bite was from no ordinary insect and it has caused her to go through a mental and physical transformation.

“Bite” reminds me a little bit of David Cronenberg’s “The Fly”.  If you loved the grotesque body-horror in that, you are going to flip for this.  “Bite” isn’t actually scary but it did make me cringe numerous times.  Archibald is able to deliver with a very apparent minimal budget. Begovic gives a strong performance as well. If you haven’t seen “Bite” yet, I urge you to check it out.
