City Slickers (Collector’s Edition): Blu-Ray Review

Arriving on Collector’s Edition Blu-ray this week is one of the best comedies to come out of the 1990’s, “City Slickers”.  Billy Crystal, Bruno Kirby and Daniel Stern play best friends from the city who decide to take a vacation at a cattle drive.  It is there were they meet the ultimate cowboy, Curly (Jack Palance).

I have always loved “City Slickers” and as great as the cast is, for me it is Palance that makes me want to view it over-and-over again. The late actor deserved his Academy Award.  I am also reminded with each viewing how much I miss the late great Bruno Kirby.  There is a strong message about life in “City Slickers” that even the limp sequel that arrived three years later couldn’t diminish.

Although the bonus features don’t offer much that is new, Shout! Factory has delivered a fantastic new 4K scan that looks phenomenal. If you are a fan of “City Slickers”, you may want to pick this one up.
