Clown: Blu-Ray Review

Director Jon Watts is currently hard at work on Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming”.  It’s hard to believe that less than two years ago he delivered the Eli Roth produced horror flick, “Clown” and after that, “Cop Car”.  Thankfully for fans of “Clown” or for those who have yet to see it, the red-nosed killer flick arrives on Blu-ray and DVD this week.

“Clown” centers on Kent (Andy Powers), a loving father and husband who finds an old clown costume and decides to put it on for his son’s birthday party.  Unfortunately, when it’s time for the costume to come off, Kent can’t seem to remove it.  The outfit, including nose, wig, and makeup have fused to his skin. When he tries to cut the material away from his body, he winds up cutting himself.  To make matters even worse, the costume begins to change him and gives him a hunger for human flesh.

“Clown” is darkly-comic and at times pretty gruesome, I just wish it was a bit of a better film.  Despite its’ flaws, horror fans should find enough to like with this one.
