Dark Haul: Blu-Ray Review
Arriving on Blu-Ry this week is SyFy’s “Dark Haul”, courtesy of Scream Factory. Originally titled “Monster Truck”, this creature feature stars Tom Sizemore, Evalena Marie, Rick Ravanello and is directed by Daniel Wise. Like most SyFy movies, this one is filled with cheesy CGI and terrible acting. Thankfully the brisk pacing helps keep things moving along.
Zib (Marie) has been the prisoner of secret guardians for over 300 years, along with her flying demon of a brother whom she can control. While being transported to sacred grounds via an 18 wheeler, things go wrong and Zib’s brother escapes his cage. Although Knicks (Sizemore) doesn’t trust her, he needs her help tracking the deadly creature.
“Dark Haul” at times feels like a lame “Pumpkinhead” knock-off but it is never dull. Those who are fans of the kind of flicks SyFy Channel churns out will most likely enjoy this one as well.
