Ejecta: Blu-Ray Review

ejecta

Arriving on Blu-Ray this week is IFC Midnight’s “Ejecta”, courtesy of Scream Factory. The film was co-directed by Matt Wiele and Chad Archibald (who just premiered his latest film “Bite” at Fantasia Fest).

“Ejecta” centers on farmer William Cassidy (Julian Richings), a man who claims he was taken by aliens 30 years ago. When paranormal researcher Joe Sullivan (Adam Seybold) is invited to William’s home for a documentary interview, things take a dark and dangerous turn. While out in the woods, both men discover a UFO crash and they are soon hunted down by something not of this world.

William is taken prisoner by a military group and forced to undergo a painful procedure known as ejecta, in which they remove thoughts from his mind. At the same time, Joe is out in the woods with the aliens and trigger-ready soldiers.

“Ejecta”, is not great, but thanks to an interesting performance from Richings, it did manage to hold my interest. The brisk pacing and 82 minute runtime also helps. It is also quite original which is something that much of recent sci-fi lacks.
