Eli Roth presents The Stranger: Blu-Ray Review
Arriving on Blu-ray this week is “The Stranger” presented by Eli Roth and written/directed by Guillermo Amoedo. I am going to keep this review pretty short as it is hard to get into the story without giving too much away. However I will say that is does something new with its take on a specific sub-genre.
Martin (Cristóbal Tapia-Montt) is a mysterious stranger that arrives in town looking to kill his wife who suffers from the same dangerous blood disease that he does. However, Martin discovers that his wife died in 1997 after giving birth to his son Peter (Nicolás Durán), who was then raised by a nurse at the hospital.
Things get even more complicated when Calieb (Ariel Levy) and his gang beat Martin to death (or so they thought). After Caleb and his father (who happens to be a Lieutenant) Martin’s body with plans to come back and bury it, young Peter comes and brings Martin back to his house. After Caleb and his father discover that Martin is not dead and that Peter helped him, things get a whole lot worse for everyone.
“The Stanger” kept me engaged as I tried to figure out what the actual blood disease was. I had an idea, but I wasn’t totally sure. Even though my first thought turned out to be correct, I still enjoyed the guessing.
