Fifty Shades of Grey: Movie Review

50 shades poster

“Fifty Shades of Grey” is going to be a massive box-office hit and it will have sequels. There is no doubt about it. This movie is going to bring is many-a-dollar to Universal and even though it is a piece of cinematic trash that will have absolutely no impact on its box office draw. Everyone who has read the book (which is supposed to be pretty awful as well) has already made their plans to go see the film with their friends. Quite frankly, this movie is critic-proof. There is a whole lot of unjustified hype with “Fifty Shades of Grey” and it’s a shame because there are so many better films out there to spend your money on.

When her roommate comes down with the flu, Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) agrees to help her out by conducting an interview for the University paper with businessman Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). The shy Anastasia pretty much fumbles the interview while still managing to grab the attention of the intimidating Mr. Grey.

It doesn’t take long for them to form a complicated relationship. They like each other but Christian needs Anastasia to agree to a legal contract in which she would be his submissive. Wait until you see his play-room (and no, there is not an X-Box in there). Anastasia knows that she wants Christian but she is scared of what it would be like to be a submissive. Quite frankly, every aspect of this relationship was ridiculous.

There is nothing sexy about “Fifty Shades of Grey” and one major issue, aside from the acting, story, and dialogue is that the chemistry between the two leads is almost non-existent. There are plenty of sex scenes and nudity but nothing that we haven’t seen before. This is just one terrible film.

“Fifty Shades of Grey”, I am rolling my eyes at you and you can’t punish me for it more than you already have.
