If you love action films and grew up in the 80’s, then you are certain to be familiar with John Rambo. The second of Sylvester Stallone’s five-letter named characters that start with “R”. With the holidays coming up, these three releases would make the perfect gift for any old school action fan. With the anticipation of a fifth “Rambo” feature heading to the theaters in 2019, I am thrilled about getting 4K releases of “First Blood”, “Rambo: First Blood Part II” (My personal favorite) and “Rambo III”. Hopefully the fourth film will get a 4K release shortly as well.
Included with the three “Rambo” films are previous released bonus features, however there is a three-part “Rambo Takes the 80’s” featurette included with each film. Part 1 is included with “First Blood”, Part 2 is included with “Rambo: First Blood Part II” and the 3rd Part is included with “Rambo III”.
Although the 4K transfer of “First Blood” looks pretty, decent, it is a much darker film than the two sequels. Because of this “Rambo: First Blood Part II” and “Rambo III” look a whole lot better in 4K, actually look quite fantastic. They are worth the upgrade from Blu-ray if you are a fan. Granted, “Rambo III” may not be as beloved as the first two but, completists will most likely want to grab all three.
