Ghost Town: Blu-Ray Review
Arriving this week on Blu-ray is the 1988 horror-western “Ghost Town”, starring Franc Luz, Jimmie F. Skaggs, Catherine Hickland and directed by Richard Governor. Thanks to Scream Factory, I now had the chance to see this very odd title in glorious HD. “Ghost Town” was another one of those classic video store titles that I am sure I rented based on the VHS cover. I remembered very little about the film before popping in the Blu-ray.
When Kate (Hickland) goes missing in the middle of the desert, Deputy Langley (Luz) goes searching for her. Langley wasn’t expecting to get trapped in a time-suspended ghost town in which its residents are all undead. It just so happens that Kate is trapped there too. The town is. To make matters worse, the town is controlled by the evil outlaw Devlin (Skaggs) and his gang. Langley must defeat the malevolent spirit in order to free himself and Kate.
“Ghost Town” is entertainingly bad and though the transfer looks fantastic, this is a bare-bones release with absolutely no bonus feature. Fans of “Ghost Town” looking just for a great picture, may want to pick up this title. I just wish we could of gotten at least one or two interviews along with it.
