Ghoulies/ Ghoulies II (Double Feature): Blu-Ray Review
Arriving this week on Blu-Ray is the Ghoulies/ Ghoulies II (Double Feature, courtesy of Scream Factory. Released in 1984, “Ghoulies” was the first in a series of four films that centered on a group of little demons from hell, in the form of cheaply made puppets. What I remember most about “Ghoulies” was not the film it’s self but the VHS box art in which one of the monsters was popping out of the toilet. The first two sequels replicated that concept.
I have never been much of a fan of this series but it had been decades since I had seen the films. I thought it would be worth revisiting the first two. Admittedly, I found “Ghoulies II” a bit more entertaining than the first film but I still couldn’t find myself getting into either of them. However, I know there is a huge fan base for “Ghoulies” and the transfers of these look fantastic. Those of you who love “Ghoulies” will want to pick this up. There are also some new bonus feature that make this a worthy upgrade release for fans.
