Hell Night (Collector’s Edition): Blu-Ray Review

Fans of Tom DeSimone’s 1981 horror film, “Hell Night” should be thrilled that Scream Factory is releasing it on Collector’s Edition Blu-ray this week.  Starring Linda Blair, Vincent Van Patten, and Peter Barton, the story centers on a group of college kids who must spend the night in an abandoned mansion with an evil history. If they can make it until dawn, they will win their way into the fraternities and sororities. Unfortunately, they are not alone in the house and must fight to stay alive.

“Hell Night” was never one of my favorite 80’s horror films, however it does have its’ charms.  I can totally see why so many other horror fans have love for it.  For those fans, I am please to tell you that the 4K transfer looks terrific, for the most part.  Some minor footage was missing from the 35mm print so you will notice a handful of scenes in which standard definition footage was included to complete the film.  There are quite a few new bonus features including interviews with the nearly entire main cast as well as the “Anatomy of the Death Scenes” bonus.  The Collector’s Edition of “Hell Night” is a definite must own for any fan of the film.
