House on Haunted Hill (Collector’s Edition): Blu-Ray Review

Now on Blu-ray is the Collector’s Edition of 1999’s “House on Haunted Hill” which stars Geoffrey Rush, Famke Janssen, Taye Diggs, Peter Gallagher, Bridgette Wilson, Ali Larter, and even Chris Kattan. I always found the casting in this film quite inspired, though Kattan sticks out.  I was never a huge fan of “House on Haunted Hill” because it wasn’t the least bit scary, but I did like the characters for the most part and I remember thinking it was a whole lot better than “The Haunting” which came out the same year.  One of the more notable things about “House on Haunted Hill” was that it was the first film produced by Dark Castle Entertainment.

Scream Factory has delivered a new 2K transfer, complete with new interviews from director William Malone, composter Don Davis and f/x supervisor Robert Skotak. If you are fan of “House on Haunted Hill” this is marks the first time the film has been released on Blu-ray within the US, so you might want to pick up a copy.
