I.T. – Blu-Ray Review
Arriving on Blu-ray and DVD this week is “I.T.”, which was directed by John Moore (“A Good Day to Die Hard”, “Behind Enemy Lines”) and stars Pierce Brosnan. For those of you who enjoy a run-of-the-mill action-thriller with a plot you have most likely seen countless times before, then this one might be for you. “I.T.” isn’t bad. It is competently written and directed and the cast is solid. It just lacks originality. For me watching “I.T.” felt more like a way to pass time rather than something I enjoyed.
Mike Rogan (Brosnan) has everything, a beautiful family, an amazing home, and a successful company that he built himself. His company is on the verge of changing the way private planes are leased with a new app. they are about to launch.
When Mike’s teenage daughter Kaitlyn (Stefanie Scott) catches the attention of I.T. specialist Ed Porter (James Frencheville), things start taking a turn for the worse. It turns out Ed is quite nuts and his attraction to Kaitlyn turns into an obsession. Mike warns Ed and Kaitlyn to stay away from each other, but of course Ed doesn’t listen and being an I.T. guy, he takes full control over the Regan’s smart-home.
Although there is nothing new in “I.T.”, John Moore’s direction is usually quite drab. If you have ever seen “Max Payne” or his remake of “The Omen”, then you know what I am talking about. He is a capable filmmaker but he just doesn’t seem to know how to thrill an audience. Again, “I.T.” is passable and might be worth checking out for Brosnan fans, but that’s about it.
