Private Number: DVD Review
Arriving this week on DVD is the supernatural thriller “Private Number”, written and directed by LazRael Lison. The story centers on an alcoholic writer who is not only having trouble finishing his novel and getting stressed out about his wife wanting to have a baby, but he is also being tormented by a series of sinister phone calls.
Michael Lane (Hal Ozsan) has just celebrated an anniversary of his sobriety, but his temptation to drink grows stronger when he starts having visions of dead people in his home as well as getting disturbing phone calls from a private number. Each call has a different voice that asks “Remember Me?”.
Michael’s wife, Katherine (Nicholle Tom) has stood by him for years, but even she can’t handle the terrifying effect that this is having on him. Michael realizes that he must figure out the identity of the serial killer who took the lives of the ghosts that are haunting him or he will never be at peace.
I didn’t have any expectations going into “Private Number”, but it turned out to be a pretty effective thriller and Ozsan is white good here. Don’t let the cover art fool you about Tom Sizemore and Judd Nelson. They have very limited screen time here which I pretty much expected. This isn’t a great film, but it is passable entertainment for those who are fans of the genre.
