Robocop 2 + 3 (Collector’s Edition): Blu-Ray Review

Arriving this week on Collector’s Edition Blu-rays are “Robocop 2” and “Robocop 3” courtesy of Shout! Factory.  Although there aren’t many people out there that praise the third installment of the Robo-Trilogy, I have no problem saying that “Robocop 2” is an underrated sequel.  Regardless, much like last month’s
“Poltergeist” releases, I am happy to have the 3rd film as well as the 2nd via these upgraded editions.

Robocop 2 (Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray)

The Collector’s Edition of “Robocop 2” comes jammed packed with plenty of extras and most of them are brand new.  Although I have not had the chance to check them all out, I loved the “Machine Parts” segment dealing with the film’s FX.

As for the feature, “Robocop 2” is given a beautiful 2K transfer that is a vast improvement over the previous Blu-ray release and worth the upgrade alone.  Fans of the film will definitely want to pick this up.

Robocop 3 (Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray)

There isn’t a whole lot I can say about “Robocop 3” as a film that fans of the series don’t already know.  It’s just not very good.  However, leave it to Shout! Factory to include enough bonus material to make a film like “Robocop 3” worth adding to your collection. They have included enough new bonus features to warrant a Collector’s Edition. Much like the “Robocop 2” release, I loved the “Robo-Vision” FX segment.  Although I haven’t gotten a chance to check out the film with Fred Dekker commentary, I am actually looking forward to it.
