Scalpel (Special Edition) on Blu-Ray

Arriving this week on Special Edition Blu-ray is John Grissmer’s 1977 dramatic-thriller, “Scalpel” (originally titled “False Face”). Robert Lansing stars as Dr. Phillip Reynolds, a plastic surgeon who plans to replace the face of a battered patient to resemble his missing daughter (Judith Chapman) in-order-to claim a large inheritance.

“Scalpel” is most notable for being photographed by cinematographer Edward Lachman, who would go on to serve as DP on “Erin Brockovich” and “The Virgin Suicides”.  Now available on a new 2K restoration Blu-ray, thanks to Arrow Video, this edition comes with plenty of bonus features. Aside from the collector’s booklet with writing from Bill Ackerman, there are new interviews from the crew and film historian Harland Smith.
