Session 9: Blu-Ray Review
Before writer/director Brad Anderson gave us 2004’s “The Machinist”, he delivered to us 2001’s “Session 9” which is a film I honestly completely forgot about. Thankfully Scream Factory hasn’t and are releasing it on Blu-ray this week. If you haven’t seen it before, you should definitely check it out.
Set in the abandoned Danvers State Mental Hospital, a team of five hazmat elimination works arrive to do a job. The building has been closed down for 15 years and in that time it has become a major safety hazard. To make matters worse, something evil lurks within the walls of the facility. Needless to say, things slowly take a downward turn for the crew and the more we learn about the hospital’s past, the more horrid the situation becomes.
“Session 9” has a very impressive cast that includes Stephen Gevedon, Josh Lucas, Brendan Sexton III, and David Caruso. The setting is very creepy, which is amplified by Anderson’s direction. I am definitely glad that this film has been given an HD upgrade.
