Streets of Fire (Collector’s Edition): Blu-Ray Review
Arriving on Collector’s Edition Blu-ray this week is Walter Hill’s 1985 cult classic, “Streets of Fire”. If a film could be both a product of its time and ahead of its time simultaneously, then “Streets of Fire” would be the perfect example. Coming off the success of of “48 Hours”, Hill reteamed with co-writer Larry Gross for this rock & roll fable. Although it was a box office bomb going up against “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock”, it built a huge following on home video and cable.
Thankfully, Shout! Factory has put together a release worthy of the film. Not only do we get a beautiful 2K remaster but the new SHOTGUNS & SIX STRINGS “making of” documentary that is a must watch for fans. I kind of with this release included a third disk that was the soundtrack for the film, but I am not going to nit-pick.
One of the best parts of checking out “Streets of Fire” in this new HD presentation is taking in the impressive set design. It is absolutely amazing and watching how it was created on the documentary is definitely a highlight. If you are a fan, I can’t insist enough that you ad this release to your collection.
