The Day of the Jackal (Special Edition) on Blu-Ray

Arriving this week on Special Edition Blu-ray is Fred Zinnemann’s 1973 political thriller, “The Day of the Jackal”, based on Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 novel.  The film stars Edward Fox and Michael Lonsdale and has been nominated for Golden Globe and Academy Awards.  This is obviously a much better film than the remake with Bruce Willis and Richard Gere that came many years later.

Arrow is now releasing the “The Day of the Jackal” for the first time on Blu-ray in the United States.  Although the bonus materials are adequate at best, there is an illustrated collector’s booklet that comes packaged with the first pressing of this release. Fans of the film may want to pick up a copy.
