The People Under the Stairs (Collector’s Edition): Blu-Ray Review
Arriving on Collector’s Edition Blu-ray this week is Wes Craven’s “The People Under the Stairs”, the underrated 1991 horror flick that features wonderfully over-the-top performances from Everett McGill and Wendy Robie. McGill alone is worth checking this one out if you never have.
The story centers on Fool (Brandon Adams), a kid who’s mother is dying of cancer and his older sister (Kelly Jo Minter) can’t afford to cover the rent. Because the rent is three days past due, Fool and his family are about to be evicted. When Leroy (Ving Rhames) offers Fool the chance to help his family by robbing the landlords (McGill and Robie). What Fool doesn’t know is that the family they are about to rob are a couple of crazies.
I am a huge fan of “The People Under the Stairs”. It’s has a great comedic quality to it, much like Craven’s previous film “Shocker”. Fans of this title will most definitely want to pick up the Collector’s Edition. Just check out the bonus features below.
