The Slayer (Special Edition): Blu-Ray Review
Arriving this week on limited Edition Blu-ray is the 1982 horror film, “The Slayer”. Until now, I had never seen this one. Although I was aware of “The Slayer”, I just never got around to checking it out. One thing I love about these newly restored Special Editions is that it gives me a chance to see older titles for the first time or revisit them in the best transfer possible. There are negatives to this as well. Dodgy make-up effects stand-out even more when the picture looks this clear.
I can’t say I was much of a fan of “The Slayer”. I loved the deserted island location, but Sarah Kendall’s performance as Kay is truly something awful. I also found “The Slayer” to be poorly paced but I did love the overall esthetic. Bonus features are minimal here, but if you are a fan of the film and want the best transfer possible, then this 4K restoration is for you.
