A Christmas Horror Story: DVD Review

Arriving on DVD and Blu-ray this week is the holiday horror anthology “A Christmas Horror Story”, directed by Grant Harvey, Steven Hoban, and Brett Sullivan. Unlike most anthologies, this one cuts back and forth between four different stories set on Christmas Eve.

“A Christmas Horror Story” is definitely one of the better anthologies over recent years and though not all the stories are great, they do manage to be entertaining. In one of the stories, we have a group of teenagers locked in a high school basement dealing with a malevolent spirit. In another story a young boy’s body has been taken over by something evil which causes some problems at home. There is also a family being terrorized by a Krampus (the anti-Santa Clause), but my favorite of the bunch would have to be Santa Clause versus zombie elves. Santa is played by George Buza (yep, Mean Gene from “Meatballs III”) and he is great. William Shatner is also on hand as a radio DJ named Dangerous Dan.

Fans of anthologies might want to give this one a look. It seems like we have a handful of Krampus related released this season but for us horror fans, the more the merrier.
