Carrie/ The Rage: Carrie 2 (Double Feature): Blu-Ray Review

carrie-carrie2

Arriving this week on Blu-ray is the double feature “Carrie” and “The Rage: Carrie 2”. Although 1999’s “The Rage: Carrie 2” is a sequel to the 1976 Brian De Palma film based on the novel by Stephen King, the version of “Carrie” included in this release is the 2002 made-for-television adaptation. Sure it would have been better to have the original film included, but Angela Bettis who took on the role of Carrie White in this version is actually quite fantastic in the role.

As for “The Rage: Carrie 2”, it is nowhere near the level of the original but Emily Bergl is likeable as Rachel Lang, half-sister to Carrie White. The main connection between “The Rage” and the 1976 original is Sue Snell (played once again by Amy Irving). “The Rage: Carrie 2” actually feels like a PG-13 movie until the final 10 minutes when Rachel goes on her rampage at a high school house party.

As I said before, nothing beats De Palma’s original but this double feature blu-ray is still entertaining and worth picking up if you are a fan. I honestly completely forgot about the 2002 remake and how good Bettis was. She is worth giving that version a look.
