Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie: Blu-Ray Review
Arriving on Blu-ray this week is 1980’s “Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie”, the second film featuring the comedic stoner duo. Chances are, if you loved “Up in Smoke”, you are a fan of “Next Movie” as well. As far as quality, they are pretty much at even level. Admittedly, I think I enjoyed “Next Movie” more when I was younger, but it really didn’t hold up as well for me watching it again for the first time in about three decades.
One of the things that I remembered most about “Next Movie” is that it introduced me to Paul Reubens and Michael Winslow. Yes, they were minor roles, but left a lasting impression. Winslow’s introduction in “Next Movie” is a more manic version of his first scene in “Police Academy”. It’s quite funny.
I can’t say I have any desire to relive any of the “Cheech and Chong” comedies, but if you are a fan, this release is for you.
