Gate II: Blu-Ray Review

“Gate II” is one of those films that I have eagerly awaited years to receive a proper home video release.  I never thought it would get a 2K remastering which I am truly grateful for. Arriving this week on Blu-ray for the firs time is Tibor Takács 1992 sequel to 1987’s “The Gate”.

“Gate II” is not as good as the original, but that’s ok because much like “Halloween II” is manages to still be an entertaining and worthy sequel. It may not get the same kind of recognition but many fans of “The Gate” were pleased with the original director’s return and with Terrence (Louis Trip) taking lead.

Aside from the beautiful new 2K scan, there are also new interviews with Tibor Takács, screenwriter Michael Nankin, F/X make-up artist Craig Reardon and F/X creator Randall William Cook. If you are a fan of “Gate II” this is a release that you should ad to your collection.
