Memoirs of an Invisible Man: Blu-Ray Review

When you ask people what their favorite films from John Carpenter are, rarely do you hear “Memoirs of an Invisible Man” mentioned.  Not because it is bad, far from it.  It is because it is just an odd piece of work that doesn’t feel at all like it was directed by Carpenter. “Memoirs of an Invisible Man” is also wildly uneven. It tries to be serious but doesn’t quite work due to the casting of Chevy Chase in the lead.  It also doesn’t work very well as a comedy due to Carpenter in the director’s chair.  However, “Memoirs of an Invisible Man” is a film I have always had a fondness for and thankfully it is now available on Blu-ray here in the US.

Although there are no new bonus features, which is a shame because I know the production had a long history before coming to light, we do get a great new 2K transfer from the original film elements.  If you are a fan of “Memoirs of an Invisible Man” I do recommend picking up this new release. The transfer looks great and it makes a nice addition to any Carpenter collection.
