Popcorn Nights Best and Worst Films of 2017!
Here we are at the end of 2017 and it’s time for me to give you my picks for the best and worst films of 2017. I haven’t seen everything, so of course there could very well be films out there that I may enjoy or hate more than the ones on my list. I must be clear that these two lists are comprised from what I have seen. Having said that, I have seen a great deal of the theatrical releases.
Best of 2017:
- Battle of the Sexes
- Logan
- Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
- Get Out
- Lady Bird
- Girls Trip
- War for the Planet of the Apes
- The Shape of Water
- Kong: Skull Island
- Wonder Woman
Worst of 2017:
- The Snowman
- The Bye Bye Man
- Transformers: The Last Knight
- A Bad Mom’s Christmas
- Fist Fight
- Rough Night
- Baywatch
- It Comes at Night
- Pirate of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
- The Mountain Between Us
There you have it, those are my lists. I do want to mention a few films that did not make the cut but are worth pointing out. I am a big fan of Edger Wright’s “Baby Driver” which was a great deal of fun and sports one hell of a soundtrack. Unfortunately, one of the film’s stars real life downfalls makes it hard to support the film. “The Florida Project” is another piece of beautiful storytelling, shining a light on a part of Florida that most people just drive through. The lack of actual scares keep’s “IT” off the top ten but it still manages to be one of the best coming-of-age films I have seen in years.
