Roadside: DVD Review

Arriving on DVD this week is the thriller “Roadside”, written and directed by Eric England (Contracted). If you are a fan of films in which the main characters are taunted by a sniper (“Phone Booth”, “Grand Piano”), then this is something worth checking out.

While on a road trip on Christmas Eve to visit family, Dan (Ace Marrero) and his pregnant wife Mindy (Katie Stegeman) find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere and held hostage by a mysterious gunman. While Mindy sits in the car, Dan is forced to stand outside in the freezing cold while the gunman plays with the couple.

We never get to really see the bad guy as he is hidden within the trees. All we hear is his voice and see the bullets either going towards the car or towards Dan. Although “Roadside” is not original, it moved along pretty quickly and manages to be quite entertaining.
