The Autopsy of Jane Doe: Blu-Ray Review

Arriving on Blu-ray this week is “The Autopsy of Jane Doe” which stars Brian Cox, Emile Hirsch and directed by André Øvredal (“Trollhunters”). I am always on the lookout for a great new horror film and because they don’t come along as often as I like, I get pretty excited when one is able to really grab me.  “The Autopsy of Jane Doe” was able to do just that.

Set mostly in an underground morgue, a father and son are tasked with the job of figuring out a Jane Doe’s cause of death.  From the outside of the body, it doesn’t appear that anything truly traumatic happened to her.  No scars, bruises, or anything that would suggest a violent death.  However, when they begin to cut into the body, they notice things that make absolutely no sense. It turns out there is something sinister connected to this corpse and the father and son must fight to survive a powerful presence.

“The Autopsy of Jane Doe” is just shy of 90 minutes and it moves along pretty quickly. Øvredal was able to deliver one of the creepiest and well directed horror films this year.  If you are a fan of frights, you should definitely give this one a look.
