The End of Oak Street: 4K UHD Review

The End of Oak Street: 4K UHD Review

David Robert Mitchell’s The End of Oak Street was one of the late summer’s biggest surprises. After what feels like countless Jurassic Park sequels, the people-versus-dinosaurs formula had started to feel a little tired. However, the film’s impressive cast, including Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, immediately caught my attention. Having writer/director David Robert Mitchell (It Follows) at the helm was another major selling point. While the trailers wisely kept much of the story under wraps, they offered just enough to suggest this would be something very different from the usual dinosaur fare. Thankfully, The End of Oak Street delivers in a big way. If you missed it in theaters, this dino-mite adventure is now available on 4K UHD.

The best way to experience this one is to go in completely blind. Without giving too much away, imagine Jurassic Park meets The Outer Limits or The Twilight Zone, and I mean that in the best possible way. I absolutely loved the 1980s suburban setting, which gives the film a wonderfully nostalgic feel, while the cast brings plenty of personality to the story. Producer J.J. Abrams clearly had that classic Amblin Entertainment vibe in mind, and both he and Mitchell do a terrific job capturing it.

If you’re looking for an entertaining genre adventure packed with a few great surprises, I highly recommend giving The End of Oak Street a watch. It’s a refreshing change of pace that delivers plenty of dino-sized fun.
