The Human Centipede (The Complete Sequence): Blu-Ray Review
I always wished that the line, “You never go ass-to-mouth” from Kevin Smith’s “Clerks II” was featured on the marketing materials for “The Human Centipede” films. For those of you who are fans of this series, you will totally pleased with the set that Scream Factory has put together. Not only do you get the director’s cuts of all three films, but tons of bonus features.
I enjoyed the first film. I don’t think of it as a horror classic, but it has this really interesting vibe and Tom Six was able to deliver something quite original. The gore served a purpose but it wasn’t overdone. When it came time for the first sequel, Six decided to go meta. Again, points for originality. Unfortunately, he went to over the top with the nastiness that I wound up being turned off by the film for the most part.
As for “The Human Centipede 3”, for me the thing is nearly unwatchable. Dieter Laser gives one of the worst performances in recent memory and to make matters worse, I found it utterly boring. Still, much like any film collection set, it is worth taking the bad with the good just to have it all in one nifty package. If you don’t own any of the films and you are a fan of the series, this is the set to get.
