Toolbox Murders 2: Blu-Ray Review
Arriving on Blu-ray this week is “Toolbox Murders 2”, directed by Dean Jones, courtesy of Scream Factory. As you may be aware, this is a sequel to the 2004 Tobe Hooper directed remake of the 1978 original. Chances are if you are a fan of the remake, then you will probably enjoy this follow up, which brings us the return of the maniac Coffin Baby (once again played by Chris Doyle).
“Toolbox Murders 2” picks up right where the first film left off. Samantha (Chauntal Lewis) has been abducted and locked in a cage within an abandoned Los Angeles building by the handyman of horror, Coffin Baby. When the deranged killer isn’t dragging in bodies and chopping them up in front of Samantha, he is tormenting her in other ways. It gets to the point where she begins to lose her sanity. Samantha even willingly partakes in cannibalism.
One surprising thing about “Toolbox Murders 2” is that Bruce Dern (who was nominated for an Academy Award a couple years ago) is actually in this thing. The veteran actor sticks out like a sore thumb here. However, horror fans who like brutal madman flicks, should find some enjoyment here, which would be good since it looks like “Toolbox Murders 3” will become a reality.
