We Are the Flesh: Blu-Ray Review
Arriving on Blu-ray this week is Emiliano Rocha Minter’s Mexican arthouse horror film, “We Are the Flesh” aka “Tenemos la carne”. Right off the bat, this film isn’t for everyone, but those who are looking for something truly bizarre and unsettling may want to give it a look. In all honesty, I can’t say I was a fan of “We Are the Flesh” as it really took tremendous effort for me to sit and watch the entire film.
The story centers on a teenage brother and sister who are homeless in a post-apocalyptic city. When a strange man give the siblings shelter and food, they find themselves serving his depraved fantasies as well as helping him build a structure in his dwelling. “We Are the Flesh” is unlike anything I have seen in recent memory but I just couldn’t get into the utter mind-bending head trip of it all. Clearly there is an audience that will love this film, but I just wasn’t one of them.
