Dreamscape (Collector’s Edition): Blu-Ray Review
Arriving on Collector’s Edition Blu-ray this week is the sci-fi, adventure, horror-hybrid, “Dreamscape”. This was one of two films released in 1984 that focused on a maniac killing people in their dreams. The other of course being, “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. “Dreamscape” is also notable for being the second film ever to receive a PG-13 rating, following “Red Dawn” (Which Shout! Factory will be releasing in March).
For fans of this unique flick, Scream Factory has put together a great release for you. Aside from the 2K transfer which looks and sounds terrific, there are a great deal of new bonus features, including an interview of Dennis Quaid and David Patrick Kelly.
I hadn’t seen “Dreamscape” since sometime in the 80’s and I forgot how great the supporting cast was. Max von Sydow and Christopher Plummer are both in this. I was never a Kate Capshaw fan and after re-watching the film, I wish her role had been recast. Other than that issue, I strongly feel this is a must-own for any fan of this eclectic genre mix flick.
