Road House (Collector’s Edition): Blu-Ray Review
Arriving this week on Collector’s Edition Blu-ray is 1989’s “Road House”, courtesy of Shout Select. One of the great mysteries to me in Cinema is how this late 80’s Patrick Swayze action-thriller became such a massive cult hit over the years. It’s not one of those “so-bad-its-good” titles or even one of those great movies that were discovered years later. “Road House” is honestly an entertaining piece of 80’s action-cheesiness that happens to have the perfect blend of fighting, camp, and quotable dialogue that makes a lasting impression.
“Road House” is a title I had kept meaning to ad to my collection for years but never did. Thankfully, Shout Select has delivered us an awesome 2K HD scan that looks fantastic. Not only that, we are treated to two disks filled with bonus features. The loss of Swayze is felt here, especially while watching the interviews. “Road House” may not be one of the late actor’s best films, but “Dalton” is definitely one of his most memorable characters. If you have been waiting for the best possible release to see Dalton rip out a guy’s throat, this is definitely the one for you.
