Candyman (Collector’s Edition): Blu-Ray Review
Available now on Collector’s Edition Blu-ray is Bernard Rose’s “Candyman”. Based on Clive Barker’s short story, “The Forbidden”, the 1992 classic delivered one of the greatest horror icons around, Candyman (played wonderfully sinister by Tony Todd) is right up there with Freddy, Jason and Michael Myers, but unlike the others there is a much deeper motivation for the terror he causes. This puts Candyman in a league of his own.
Considered by many, one of the best horror films to come out of the 90’s, “Candyman” holds up quite well more than 25 years later. I always loved the urban setting, much like that of the original “Child’s Play”. Chicago just felt absolutely, right. I am also a huge supporter of gory kills when they are part of an effective chiller like this one. Needless-to-say, I am all over Scream Factory’s release of “Candyman”.
Without question, if you are a horror fan, the “Candyman” Collector’s Edition Blu-ray is a must own. The two-disk set includes 2K restorations of the original theatrical cut as-well-ass the unrated cut. We also get new interviews with Tony Todd, Virginia Madsen plus many others. This Blu-ray is packed with bonus content. If you are looking for a sweet gift to get someone for the horror lover in your life this holiday season, grab them “Candyman”.
